Flash Background

This is one of my recent works done entirely in Flash, for Digital Cell Animation 1 at Savannah College of Art and Design. This was a tough assignment to accomplish, I had to rethink how to color and compose the background using the vector based system within Flash. All in all it was a fun and rewarding process.

Blue Render

Hey all have'nt uploaded anything in a while.  Going to make a change of that!

This a blue render sketch I did for Troy Gustafson's Character and Layout class at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Quite a difficult project at first but once in the swing of things it was really enjoyable. The hardest part was creating the blue powder for the render. I had to dissect 7 prismacolor blue pencils and use a make-shift mortar and pestle to grind the lead into a useable powder.

Printing

So for the past few months I've been messing around with screen printing. Its a pretty fun way of producing work. This is my first attempt at a four color print. It was hard to get everything lined up but I was able to get one good print out of the four.

Action analysis

Ahh..! so schools started and its already kicking my butt.Taking an action analysis class and its intense. Learning from an Ex-Disney animator is absolutely amazing but his expectations are set so high, not that that's a bad thing, just means I gotta step my game up ten fold.
Our first assignment is to animate the hand in a rest position and clinch it up into a fist and with the foot it needs to step into frame and step out.
This is incredibly challenging cause I have to throw out my old way of drawing hands and feet and learn a new way with basic shapes so I can animate them.
This is definitely a great challenge but im excited to see the end product.

That's all for now ill post some pencil tests when I get further along.

Awsome vfs animator

I stumbled across this really amazing effects animator Ryan Woodward. His recent short 'Thought of You' its quite amazing.
Hes worked on some really cool projects such as a storyboard artist on 'Iron man 2', animatic artist on 'Spider-man 3' and effects animator on 'The Iron Giant'. Hes also worked on 'Osmosis Jones', 'Space Jam' and many more.

Check out his blog and see some of his other work. Also check out the animation Thought of You.

Networking at CTN

So ya, last Thursday I spent the day shadowing a producer over at Cartoon Networks Latin America division. It was such a great experience I got to see how she takes her concept ideas into full production. Best part was the grand tour of the entire building and meet n greet of employees at CTN.

Getting the grand tour of the whole building was amazing. Each floor had its different theme and purpose. Even though each floor we went to there was fewer and fewer employees, because its the end of the year and everyone is done with there projects so not to many people are still hanging around the water cooler. I still got to see their work environment, which I might add gave me goose bumps seeing all the cubicles and how each person personalizes it with their nick-knack of all the different CTN programs. This was the first time I have been into an actual studio environment.

Definitely was a great experience and best part I've been invited back to come to the studio and check things out when their in full production in the new year!!

Thanks everyone for a wonderful day and can't wait to come back.
